Grand Pianos

Most players will agree that large and expensive grand pianos intended for use in concert halls have the best tonal quality of all pianos and produce the best sound. However, very few people can actually afford grand pianos of such a high quality and some can cost as much as £100,000, although there is technically no cap on the price of grand pianos and instruments that have historical significance or belonged to famous individual may be worth even more.

There are cheaper grand pianos available that are designed to be used in the home. They are significantly smaller than the grand pianos used in concert halls and will either fall into the category of parlour grand pianos of baby grad pianos, the smallest examples of grand pianos available. However, even these smaller grand pianos will take up a lot of room and they are usually still quite expensive. Most players who have a piano in their home do not own grand pianos, but will instead have a smaller and more compact upright piano, which is ideal for home use. However the sound and feel of the keys is not quite the same as with grand pianos.
